Today, we’re sharing what we’re looking forward to curling up on the sofa to in the run-up to the most magical day of the year.
Ana - The Grinch
Filled with some amazing one-liners, this improv-fuelled film has provided many families with laughter and fun on the holidays. Jim Carrey took his role as the Christmas-hating Grinch to the next level.
How?
He trained in the art of torture endurance with a CIA expert in order to get through the hours of costume makeup each day, which ultimately lasted for 100 days!
Now, that’s dedication.
Gabrielle - Home Alone
Home Alone sparked every parent’s worst nightmare of accidentally leaving their children behind and jetting away to Paris, while also providing kids across the world high-class ‘booby trap’ ideas if they ever encountered two not-so-bright robbers.
Families everywhere loved this movie so much that it put Home Alone on the Guinness World Record as the highest-grossing live-action comedy until 2017.
James - Die Hard
Bringing the phrase Yipikayay a new meaning, Die Hard sports a passionate fanbase due to its action-adventure Christmas spirit! As one of Bruce Willis’s most notable roles, did you know that he wasn’t the first choice to play John McClane? Sylvester Stallone and Richard Gere were presented with the script before the relatively unknown actor Willis was cast.
Rocky Balboa crawling through an air vent just wouldn’t have the same feel to it.
Julia - Klaus
The tale of a postman and toymaker settling an age-old feud to bring Christmas gifts to the Norwegian town of Smeerensburg, this animated movie is as wholesome as it gets! This lighthearted tale teaches viewers about kindness and helping each other through difficult times.
Even though there were many who were unsure of creating this film as it was originally deemed too risky of a project and ultimately shopped around until picked up, it was beloved by those who watched after its release, with Netflix reporting that it was viewed by 30,000,000 in the first month.
Haendel - Love Actually
Before Andrew Lincoln was slashing his way through a hoard of Zombies, he was declaring his love through a series of written signs on our doorsteps in this rom-com classic. Featuring an all-star cast of Keira Knightly, Emma Thompson, Alan Rickman, Hugh Grant, and so many more, a collection of intertwined stories run their course to make up a magical conclusion of festive romance.
One of the most famous scenes in the film was the Number 10 Dance to Jump By Girls Aloud, which featured High Grant’s portrayal of the British Prime Minister frolicking about the corridors in an unexpected twist. But did you know that the actor absolutely refused to do this scene until the final day due to a conflict in how he wanted the character to be viewed?
We couldn’t imagine it any other way!
