Our Story

Black Goblin was founded by professional sound designers Ana Betancourt and Gabrielle Haley, who experienced a persistent industry problem firsthand. We saw how the processes and tools for audio post-production, while powerful, were still forcing creatives to spend countless hours on manual work [spotting, logging, and organising] instead of the artistic work that defines great sound.

We knew there had to be a better way.

In 2024, our company pivoted with a singular focus: to become a dedicated technology partner for the professional sound community. We are a team of sound experts, software engineers, and creative thinkers united by the belief that technology should augment artistry, not replace it.

Our philosophy is simple: by streamlining the most inefficient parts of the workflow, we can unlock more time and mental space for what truly matters: designing iconic sound. This is why we built Thol, our machine-assisted spotting tool, and it is the guiding principle behind everything we will build next.
